ABOUT CHOL
Chol Majok was born in South Sudan and moved to the United States 23 years ago - one of the "Lost Boys" of South Sudan. He is a 2004 graduate of Fowler High School. While in high school, he was in foster care as an orphaned Unaccompanied Refugee Minor (URM).
Chol went to college at Syracuse University, University of Albany, and completed a doctorate in executive leadership at St. John Fisher University.
Chol has over ten years of constituent service experience at the local and state levels. He is an elected member of the Syracuse Common Council, serving as chair of the Council's Public Safety Committee. As a legislator, Chol has always been a fierce advocate for under-represented communities. His leadership is shaped by a deep understanding of the struggles ordinary people face and a relentless commitment to equity, fairness, and justice.
Chol has been married for 14 years to Abiei. They have six children: Akuch, Gop, Majok, Akau, Yar, and Agoot. They are homeowners in Syracuse's Elmwood neighborhood.
