Under my administration, Syracuse will lead the way in green infrastructure and urban farming, creating a healthier, more sustainable, and economically vibrant city. Climate change is a reality that affects every neighborhood, and we must take bold, proactive steps to adapt and thrive. By leveraging federal, state, and local partnerships, we will build a resilient Syracuse that prioritizes environmental responsibility, job creation, and economic opportunity.
Urban farming and sustainability initiatives will not only address climate change and food insecurity but also create jobs, improve public health, and enhance community stability. Through strategic investment and collaboration, we will make Syracuse a national leader in green urban development.
I. Green Infrastructure: A Smarter, Greener Syracuse
My administration will implement sustainable infrastructure policies to improve environmental resilience, reduce emissions, and create green jobs.
1. Renewable & Efficient Energy Solutions

Convert municipal buildings to geothermal and solar energy, joining a community energy grid that reduces costs and carbon emissions.

Expand solar and renewable energy programs to support residential and business participation in clean energy initiatives.

Promote green workforce development by training local workers for green energy installation and maintenance jobs.
2. Sustainable Transportation & Public Infrastructure

Transition of city vehicles to electric and expand public-private partnerships for EV charging stations across the city.

Enhance public transit systems to include more eco-friendly and efficient transportation options.
3. Waste Reduction & Recycling Initiatives

Phase out plastic garbage bags and implement biodegradable alternatives to reduce environmental waste.

Develop stronger recycling policies and support local businesses in adopting sustainable packaging.

Encourage community composting programs to minimize landfill waste and support urban farming.
4. Climate Resilience & Flood Mitigation
